The Administrative Court of Rabat ruled today, Thursday, to dismiss Anas El Bouanani, the mayor of Kenitra, following a prior referral from Fouad El Mohammedi, the governor of Kenitra province.
The court also ordered the dismissal of Bouanani’s two deputies, Fatima El Azri and Mustapha El Kamah, from their positions.
The governor of Kenitra had issued an administrative decision to suspend Anas El Bouanani and his two deputies from their duties and referred their cases to the Administrative Court of Rabat to rule on their potential removal. This decision was based on a report from the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration, which uncovered a series of irregularities in urban planning.
The suspension of the mayor and his deputies came after they were questioned by the governor regarding violations in urban planning files. One of the mayor’s deputies was tasked with managing the municipal council’s affairs pending a final ruling.
