In response to royal directives, the government has launched a rehabilitation program for regions in southeastern Morocco affected by severe flooding. These exceptional rains caused both human and material damage in several provinces: Errachidia, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Zagora, Figuig, Jerada, Taroudant, Tata, Tiznit, Guelmim, and Assa-Zag. The projected budget for this initiative is approximately 2.5 billion dirhams.
According to a government statement, following the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the government has mobilized all necessary human and logistical resources to provide an effective and swift response to the affected populations. Various government sectors have been engaged to ensure the successful implementation of this ambitious program.
The plan includes the reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged buildings and homes, as well as the repair of road infrastructure, communication networks, electricity, drinking water, and sanitation systems.
Additionally, the program aims to support agricultural activities in the affected areas, particularly through the restoration of small and medium irrigation systems, and will offer assistance to livestock farmers who lost animals in the floods, to help rebuild the region’s livestock population.
The launch of this program highlights the government’s commitment to being close to its citizens and addressing their needs.
