Joint border control operations conducted by the National Security services, in coordination with customs officials at the Tanger Med port, have successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 730 kilograms of cannabis resin (shira) aboard a Morocco-registered international freight truck.
This security operation led to the discovery of the drugs, meticulously hidden within specially prepared compartments in the truck. The driver, a Moroccan national, has been arrested.
The suspect is currently under judicial investigation, overseen by the competent public prosecutor, to identify all those involved in the case and uncover potential national and international connections to this criminal activity.
This case is part of intensified and ongoing security operations carried out by various law enforcement agencies aimed at combating international drug trafficking and the distribution of psychotropic substances.
