Between September 23rd and 29th, 16 people lost their lives, and 2865 were injured, including 116 in critical condition, in 2097 traffic accidents recorded in urban areas, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The main causes of these accidents were attributed to driver inattention, failure to respect right-of-way, pedestrian inattention, failure to maintain safe distances, speeding, loss of vehicle control, changing lanes without signaling, failure to obey stop signs and traffic lights, improper overtaking, driving in the wrong direction, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Regarding traffic control and enforcement operations, the security services recorded 51,307 violations, drafted 9,483 reports referred to the public prosecutor, and collected 41,824 fines, amounting to a total of 9,158,300 dirhams. Additionally, 5,552 vehicles were impounded, 9,483 documents were confiscated, and 284 vehicles were immobilized.
