A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department stated, following talks in Washington between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, that « the United States still considers Morocco’s autonomy plan as serious, credible, and realistic. » Both parties also expressed their support for the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Staffan de Mistura, in leading the political process concerning the Sahara under UN supervision, aiming to reach a permanent political solution without delay.
