The workshop “Water Use Rationalization in Industrial Units” was held this Saturday in Tangier, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region. The event, under the theme “Less Water, More Efficiency: Towards Sustainable Industries,” gathered officials, economic actors, experts, and elected representatives.

Participants agreed that preserving water as a vital natural resource is a collective responsibility shared by individuals and institutions. With climate change and rising demand for water, rationalizing its use in industrial sectors is crucial for ensuring environmental sustainability. This aligns with the royal guidelines and global policies advocating for water conservation amidst growing environmental and economic challenges.

Hussein Ben Tayeb, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the urgency of the situation, citing reduced rainfall and the shared responsibility of citizens and public institutions to ensure sustainable water use. He stressed the critical role water plays in all economic and social activities.

Chaibia Balbzioui Alaoui, Vice President of the Federation of Iron and Mechanical Industries in Morocco, highlighted that managing water efficiently is one of the most significant challenges facing modern industries. She pointed out that adopting responsible practices, such as water recycling and minimizing waste, is key to reducing operational costs.

Academician Zine El Abidine El Husseini underlined the importance of the economic sector’s involvement in addressing the water crisis, stating that controlling water resources is essential for sustainable development.
