The Tanger City Council, meeting on Friday as part of its regular October session, approved the 2025 fiscal budget, which exceeds 1.161 billion dirhams.
The budget project, discussed extensively by council members during the session chaired by President Monir Lemouri, was approved by the majority of those present.
According to the budget document, the total projected budget for next year amounts to 1.161 billion and 500 thousand dirhams, marking a 5% increase compared to the 2024 budget.
This growth is supported by an increase in revenues, which reached 752 million and 692 thousand dirhams as of this October.
Local tax revenues for 2025, excluding the municipality’s share of VAT estimated at 220 million dirhams, are expected to exceed 941 million dirhams.
These revenues are divided between self-collected taxes, expected to generate approximately 486.12 million dirhams, and transferred taxes, estimated at 455.379 million dirhams.
In addition, the October session’s agenda included the review and approval of projects and agreements related to social, environmental, and economic sectors.
On this occasion, the council approved a partnership agreement for the restoration of collapsing buildings in the old Medina of Tanger (2025-2028), a partnership for financing and implementing mechanisms to regulate vehicle access to the Medina, and a partnership with Tanger-Asilah Prefecture and the Al-Razi Association to support the operational budget of the Al-Razi Mental Health Center.
The council also approved a partnership for cleaning up the final sections of the Meghougha and Souani rivers in Tanger, and the project to expropriate land for a public cemetery in the Tanger Balia neighborhood, as well as the legal settlement of several public utility plots.
Lastly, the council studied and approved an update to the municipal decree regulating the organization of commercial, industrial, and service zones in Tanger.
