Morocco Allocates 240 Million Dirhams to Boost Innovation and Support Startups as Part of the « Digital Morocco 2030 » Strategy

The Deputy Minister in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Ghita Mezzour, announced yesterday, Tuesday, in Casablanca, the allocation of a 240 million dirham budget as part of the « Digital Morocco 2030 » strategy. This initiative aims to promote innovation and support Moroccan startups.

During the opening of the sixth edition of the African Digital Summit, organized by the Moroccan Advertisers Group, Ms. Mezzour stated: « We have allocated a budget of 240 million dirhams to boost the national demand for innovative services by prioritizing purchases from local startups and providing them with outsourcing opportunities, enabling them to export their solutions beyond our borders. » The goal of the national digital strategy by 2030 is to support Moroccan startups throughout their journey by ensuring continuous funding, tailored support, and an enhanced incubating infrastructure.

In this context, the minister called for trust in local startups, considering them as key drivers of innovation and digital transformation in Morocco.

The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Abdelatif Miraoui, emphasized the crucial role of artificial intelligence and digital skills for future generations. He highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing training, research, and infrastructure in this field to face challenges and seize opportunities. He urged leveraging this technological revolution as a chance for Africa to enhance its youth’s potential and actively participate in global transformations.

The minister said, « We are living in a period of significant transformation that reshapes our society and opens new horizons for humanity. Digital technology and artificial intelligence, in particular, offer our youth and our African continent exceptional opportunities for innovation and development. »

Youssef Cheikhi, the President of the Moroccan Advertisers Group, highlighted the richness and diversity of this year’s program, which focuses on eight main thematic areas. He noted that these topics, including digital marketing, branding, and sports marketing, will be addressed through discussion panels, interactive seminars, and masterclasses led by industry experts.

This year, the summit welcomes industry giants such as « Amazon Web Services, » « Google, » « TikTok, » and « Microsoft, » who will share their insights and expertise.

The opening ceremony also featured the signing of several significant agreements, including a tripartite partnership between the Moroccan Advertisers Group, the Association of Information Systems Users in Morocco, and the National Association of Human Resources Managers and Trainers, as well as a memorandum of understanding with the « Advertising Business Group » and a partnership with the Jerada Foundation.

The sixth African Digital Summit, held over two days, serves as a platform to discuss digital transformation in Africa, with the participation of experts aiming to establish future digitization strategies for the continent.
