CHAN 2024 Qualifiers: Morocco, Tunisia, and Libya Secure Direct Qualification to the Finals

Today, Wednesday, during the draw for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) held in Cairo, Morocco, Tunisia, and Libya secured direct qualification to the finals. These finals will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from February 1 to 28, 2025.

According to the competition’s qualification system, the African continent is divided into six geographical zones: North African Union, West African Union (A), West African Union (B), Central African Union, East and Central African Union, and Southern African Union.

Three teams from each zone qualify for the final tournament. In this context, Morocco, Tunisia, and Libya have qualified from the North African Union as they were the only teams participating in the qualifiers.

The qualification process for the remaining geographical zones will consist of two rounds using a home-and-away system before reaching the continental finals.

The first round of qualifiers is scheduled from October 25 to 27, and November 1 to 3, 2024, while the second round will take place from December 20 to 22, and December 27 to 29, 2024.

The Moroccan local players’ national team has won the CHAN twice, in 2018 and 2020, alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, which won in 2009 and 2016. Tunisia won the title in 2011, Libya in 2014, while the 2022 edition was won by Senegal.
