The Appellate Criminal Chamber of the Casablanca Court of Appeal decided on Monday to postpone the trial of the student Badr’s murder case to November 13. This tragic incident, which has shaken public opinion, took place inside a well-known restaurant in the Ain Diab area of Casablanca.
Since the start of the case, significant developments have occurred. In mid-April 2024, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal issued severe sentences against the defendants, ranging from the death penalty to life imprisonment, with the lightest sentence being five years in prison.
These sentences were based on charges including premeditated murder, theft, and the formation of a criminal gang.
Among the prominent defendants in this case is the main suspect, Ashraf S., known by the nickname « Weld Lfchouch, » who was sentenced to death after being convicted of committing premeditated murder, attempted murder, and involvement in a robbery carried out under aggravated circumstances, such as group action, night-time, and the use of violence.
The crime, which claimed the life of the young Badr, prompted the prosecution to file serious charges against five other individuals, who were detained during the proceedings.
They faced accusations of forming a criminal gang, premeditated murder, qualified theft, and attempted murder.
The case continues to draw considerable attention in Moroccan society, with the appeal outcome eagerly awaited to determine the final fate of those involved in this shocking crime.
