The Dominican Republic has renewed its support in New York for Morocco’s efforts to reach a credible and acceptable political solution to the regional dispute over Western Sahara.
In a statement during a meeting of the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly, Carla Carlson, representative of the Dominican Republic, praised the efforts of the UN Secretary-General to reach a realistic and lasting solution with the involved parties.
She also highlighted the work of the UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy to Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, aimed at facilitating the revival of the political process under the Secretary-General’s supervision.
The diplomat concluded by calling on all parties to maintain a spirit of cooperation to reach a political, durable, practical, and realistic solution based on consensus for this artificial conflict.
