The results of the household situation survey, conducted by the High Commission for Planning for the third quarter of 2024, show that 10.9% of households expect to save money over the next 12 months, while 89.1% do not.
In its latest information note, the High Commission highlighted that the balance of this indicator remains negative, reaching -78.2 points compared to -80.4 points in the previous quarter and the same quarter last year.
Furthermore, 97.5% of households believed, during Q3 2024, that food prices increased over the past 12 months, while only 0.3% thought otherwise. The balance of these opinions thus remains negative at -97.2 points, compared to -96 points in the previous quarter and -97.9 points during the same quarter of the previous year.
Regarding the evolution of food prices over the next 12 months, 84.4% of households anticipate a continued rise, 14.7% expect stability, and 0.9% foresee a decrease. The balance of this indicator stands at -83.5 points, compared to -79.1 points in the previous quarter and -66.2 points in the same quarter last year.
