Morocco renewed its « steadfast and ongoing » support for the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates over the Greater and Lesser Tunb Islands and Abu Musa on Wednesday in New York.
In a speech before the Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Omar Hilale, stated: « I would like to reaffirm the Kingdom of Morocco’s steadfast and ongoing support for the territorial integrity of the United Arab Emirates and its sovereignty over the islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa. »
The ambassador also emphasized that the Kingdom supports « the request made by this brotherly country to end Iran’s occupation of these three Emirati islands, as well as its stance advocating for a resolution either through direct negotiation or by referring the matter to the International Court of Justice. »
