On Tuesday, October 29, police in Tangier arrested three individuals, including two Moroccan brothers and an Uzbek national residing illegally in Morocco, on suspicion of being involved in a case related to digital data system hacking and phone call piracy.
This arrest followed a complaint from a legal representative of a mobile and internet service provider in Morocco, who reported a breach of their telecommunications network. The illegal activity involved using electronic devices to convert international phone calls into local ones, profiting from the difference in pricing. Investigations led to the identification and arrest of the suspects on Tuesday.
During searches conducted in two homes in Tangier, authorities seized wireless devices, desktop computers, several SIM cards, and advanced electronic equipment used in the commission of these crimes.
The suspects are now under judicial investigation, overseen by the relevant public prosecutor’s office, to uncover all circumstances and backgrounds of the case, as well as to apprehend any other accomplices involved in this criminal activity.
