French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed that France’s stance on the Sahara issue is prompting other European countries to reconsider their own positions. In an interview with Moroccan channels “2M” and “Medi1 TV,” Macron highlighted that France has a solid commitment to standing by Morocco diplomatically, affirming that the southern regions’ future aligns with Moroccan sovereignty.
During his official visit to Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, Macron noted the significance of this diplomatic step for both bilateral relations and regional stability. He clarified that France’s decision aims to support regional integration and foster stability across the Sahara and the Sahel region.
Macron acknowledged Morocco’s substantial investments in regional development under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, noting that France’s Development Agency and French companies will further enhance their investments in the southern regions.
In terms of energy, Macron emphasized Morocco’s role as a major producer of renewable energy, with developments in solar and wind energy. He stressed that this energy partnership could mutually benefit both countries by supporting economic decarbonization and encouraging shared prosperity.
Lastly, Macron expressed appreciation for the warm welcome he received in Morocco, describing the visit as a significant milestone in the historical relationship between the two countries.
