The Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced on Thursday the launch of the national campaign to prevent and combat seasonal flu and acute respiratory infections. This campaign will extend through the autumn and winter seasons, known for the spread of respiratory viruses, particularly seasonal flu and Covid-19.
Under the slogan “Seasonal Flu: Let’s Get Vaccinated and Follow Preventive Measures,” this campaign aims to raise public awareness of preventive measures to avoid flu infection and to emphasize the importance of vaccination to reduce risks and complications, especially among those most vulnerable, such as pregnant women, children under five, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases.
Seasonal flu is a viral infection that affects the respiratory system, often appearing in seasonal epidemics during autumn and winter. While it usually causes mild symptoms, it can lead to serious complications, even death, particularly in vulnerable groups.
The Ministry also reiterates the importance of preventive measures like hand washing, covering the nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing, using disposable tissues, maintaining physical distancing, ventilating closed spaces, and wearing masks in case of illness to protect against seasonal flu and most respiratory infections.
