Morocco secured the 92nd position out of 157 countries in the latest Global Women and Children’s Rights Index, issued by the Children’s Fund Alliance, a coalition of 11 international organizations. Scoring 62.8 out of 100, the country is categorized as one implementing these rights “essentially,” despite a slight decline from the previous ranking.
The index evaluates living conditions for women and children globally using 30 criteria. In Africa, Morocco is among a few nations, like Algeria and South Africa, in this category, while most, such as Mauritania and Madagascar, are listed as having “limited” or “very limited” implementation.
Regionally, Bahrain leads Arab countries at 67th globally, followed by Tunisia and the UAE. However, the report highlights global setbacks in democracy and security for women and children, urging governments to enhance empowerment and formal participation in society.
