Fuel prices in Morocco have been gradually decreasing since last August. This Saturday, gasoline prices dropped by 30 cents per liter across various fuel stations, while diesel prices remained stable.
Distributors implemented this reduction in mid-November, following an earlier adjustment at the beginning of the month, which saw a 20-cent reduction on diesel alone, with gasoline prices remaining unchanged.
This marks the fifth price drop in three and a half months. The last increase occurred in July, ranging from 16 to 33 cents, raising concerns about a repeat of the summer 2021 scenario.
Current prices differ by region. In Rabat, diesel is sold at 11.30 dirhams per liter, while gasoline costs 13.49 dirhams per liter. These variations depend on proximity to import ports, as Morocco relies on refined oil imports since the “Samir” refinery ceased operations.
Despite ongoing Middle Eastern tensions, local fuel prices have remained stable, aided by falling global oil prices. Yesterday, Brent crude futures dropped to $71.04 per barrel, a 2.09% decline.
