A police officer in the city of Azrou was forced to use his service weapon on Monday, November 18, during a security intervention to apprehend two repeat offenders who refused to comply and posed a serious threat to citizens and law enforcement officers with a bladed weapon.
According to security sources, the incident began after a taxi driver and his wife filed a complaint, accusing two intoxicated individuals of intercepting their vehicle, boarding it by force, and threatening and extorting them. A police patrol intervened to arrest the suspects, but they violently resisted with a knife. This compelled the officer to fire, injuring one of them in the lower limbs.
The use of the firearm successfully neutralized the first suspect, leading to the confiscation of the knife used in the assault. The second suspect was identified and apprehended shortly after the incident.
The injured suspect remains under medical supervision at the hospital, while the second detainee is being investigated under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor. Authorities are working to uncover all details of the case and determine the full extent of the suspects’ criminal actions.
