Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch highlighted today in the House of Councillors that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has « spearheaded and guided innovative strategies since his ascension to the throne, positioning Morocco as a competitive industrial hub and redefining its global standing. »
Akhannouch emphasized milestones like the « Emergence » program in 2005, the 2009 National Industrial Emergence Pact, the 2014-2020 Industrial Acceleration Plan, and the 2022 Investment Charter. He highlighted transformative infrastructure projects such as Tanger Med Port, now ranked first in the Mediterranean and Africa, and fourth globally in efficiency, alongside the highway network expansion from 80 km in 1999 to 1,800 km today.
Morocco has mobilized over 13,600 hectares of industrial land and developed approximately 150 industrial zones. Akhannouch praised the collaborative efforts of trade unions, entrepreneurs, and local authorities in driving this success. He also underlined the positive impact of social dialogue outcomes, including wage and pension improvements, on fostering industrial dynamism.
Referring to the royal message during the first National Industry Day in March 2023, Akhannouch stressed Morocco’s readiness to « enter a new industrial era » with sovereignty as both a goal and a means.
