The quantities of coastal and artisanal fishing products landed at Nador port decreased by 11% at the end of October 2024, reaching 3310 tons compared to 3737 tons during the same period in 2023, according to the National Fisheries Office (ONP).
Despite this decline, the market value of these products improved by 12%, exceeding 131.9 million dirhams compared to 117.7 million dirhams during the same period last year.
The report highlights a sharp drop in pelagic fish, which fell by 51%, reaching 590 tons (6.3 million dirhams) compared to 1197 tons (9.5 million dirhams) in 2023.
White fish also experienced a 16% decline, amounting to 813 tons. However, their market value increased by 6%, reaching 23.1 million dirhams.
In contrast, cephalopods showed a 4% growth in volume, totaling 1172 tons, with revenues of 66.6 million dirhams (+5%). Crustaceans recorded the most significant increase, with a 52% rise in volume (676 tons) and a 55% surge in revenues (35.7 million dirhams).
Nationally, the value of marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products grew by 6%, reaching 9.23 billion dirhams, even though volumes slightly declined by 1% to 1,102,646 tons.
