Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, held discussions this Thursday in Rabat with Guinea’s Prime Minister, Amadou Oury Bah. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and mechanisms to foster their development.
According to a government statement, the talks, attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita, highlighted the exemplary friendship between the two nations, strengthened by royal visits to Guinea in 2014 and 2017.
Akhannouch reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment, under King Mohammed VI’s guidance, to supporting Guinea’s sustainable economic and social development. Key sectors such as agriculture, fishing, health, and industry were emphasized, reflecting the strong bonds of brotherhood and solidarity between the two nations.
Guinea reiterated its support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Southern Provinces, marked by the opening of a consulate in Dakhla in January 2020.
The leaders discussed advancing economic relations within a South-South cooperation framework. This aligns with agreements signed in May 2023 in Rabat and the 7th session of the Morocco-Guinea Joint Cooperation Commission held in Dakhla in July 2023.
