Local authorities in the Souss-Massa region reported that on Monday, December 16, 2024, a decomposed body was discovered in a rugged mountain slope within a forested area near the beach of the Tamri commune. It is strongly believed that the body belongs to the Belgian tourist who had been missing since late November, pending the results of genetic testing on DNA samples taken from the deceased.
Preliminary field examinations and personal belongings found at the top of the rocky slope suggest that the victim likely fell, which caused his death.
The Royal Gendarmerie has initiated a judicial investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The body has been placed under medical examination to extract genetic fingerprints and conduct the necessary analyses for potential matches.
