The judicial police in Taza arrested a doctor and a trainee nurse from Ibn Baja Hospital on Monday, following a complaint filed by a citizen. They are suspected of involvement in bribery and extortion cases.
According to available information, the arrest occurred after a police sting operation. The complaint was lodged via the green hotline established by the Public Prosecution Presidency for reporting corruption. The complainant alleged being extorted by the suspects, who demanded money in exchange for receiving a medical service.
The suspects were caught red-handed receiving a bribe of 1,400 dirhams in a room reserved for doctors at the emergency department of Ibn Baja Regional Hospital.
The two individuals have been placed in custody pending the completion of the investigation and their presentation before the judiciary.
