Man Arrested in Casablanca for Drug Trafficking and Assault on Police Officers
Police officers from the Ben Msik Security Zone in Casablanca apprehended a 41-year-old man on the evening of Monday, December 23. The suspect, who has a criminal record, is accused of illegal drug and psychotropic substance trafficking and endangering police officers’ safety with a bladed weapon.
During the operation, one of the officers was forced to use his service weapon as a precautionary measure to neutralize the suspect’s threat. This action inadvertently caused minor injuries to another officer due to shrapnel from the fired bullet, resulting in superficial wounds to his lower limbs.
A search of the suspect revealed a quantity of cannabis resin, psychotropic pills, and the bladed weapon used to threaten the officers.
The suspect has been placed in custody pending further investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the case. Meanwhile, the injured officer was taken to the hospital for necessary medical care.
