The Moroccan State Secretariat in charge of Craftsmanship and the Social and Solidarity Economy, in collaboration with UNESCO, organized in Rabat the launch ceremony of the second edition of the “Moroccan Artisanal Treasures” program, under the theme “Torchbearers,” celebrating Moroccan craftsmanship.

The event was chaired by André Azoulay, Advisor to King Mohammed VI, alongside Lahcen Saadi, State Secretary for Craftsmanship, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism and Craftsmanship, and Eric Félat, UNESCO’s Regional Representative for Maghreb countries.

The gathering saw the attendance of ambassadors, parliamentarians, public institution leaders, and representatives of Morocco’s artisanal chambers.

Lahcen Saadi emphasized that craftsmanship is a mirror of Morocco’s cultural identity and collective memory. He highlighted the importance of preserving endangered traditional arts while training young people. André Azoulay praised this initiative for showcasing Morocco’s rich and diverse heritage. He noted that this strategic partnership with UNESCO strengthens Morocco’s global leadership in the field, alongside India.

This edition recognized ten artisans as “Moroccan Artisanal Treasures” who trained 100 young individuals in various crafts, creating job opportunities and supporting the national economy.
