The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) announced that its offices will remain open on Saturday, December 28, and Sunday, December 29, 2024, to allow eligible individuals to voluntarily settle their tax situation before the deadline of December 31, 2024.

In a statement, the DGI explained that this initiative responds to growing interest in the voluntary tax settlement program, reintroduced under the 2024 Finance Law. This measure allows taxpayers to declare undeclared income and pay contributions related to movable or immovable assets, partner current accounts, or loans granted to third parties.

The DGI highlighted that this settlement applies to individuals with taxable income in Morocco that was not declared before January 1, 2024. It includes bank deposits, cash holdings, movable or immovable assets not used for professional purposes, and loans or credits mentioned earlier.

Furthermore, declared amounts subject to a 5% contribution rate will not be considered during tax audits or for assessing total annual income under the fiscal review procedures outlined in Article 216 of the General Tax Code.

Finally, the DGI clarified that banking institutions are authorized to accept declarations based on prior financial flows through taxpayers’ accounts, in addition to current deposits.
