« Tassoukt n Iâd n Yennayer » Celebration in Agadir: Honoring Amazigh Heritage

Yesterday, Friday, the Ibn Zaidoun Garden Square in Agadir hosted the opening of « Tassoukt n Iâd n Yennayer, » an event that highlights the rich Moroccan Amazigh cultural heritage. Running until January 14, this event is part of the Amazigh New Year 2975 celebrations, organized by the Agadir municipality in collaboration with the Souss-Massa region, the Regional Tourism Council, and the Timitar Festival Association.

The program features exhibitions of local products and traditional Amazigh clothing, showcasing creativity deeply rooted in Moroccan culture. Participants emphasized that the exhibits reflect the richness of Amazigh intangible heritage and its significance to Moroccan identity.

Zahra Manshaoudi, Deputy Mayor of Agadir in charge of culture and heritage, highlighted this year’s edition’s diverse program spanning 12 city locations. Activities include local crafts exhibitions, thematic conferences, and concerts by renowned Amazigh artists. Visitors can also enjoy Amazigh dishes along the promenade.

This celebration aligns with the royal decree designating January 14 as a public holiday, reaffirming Amazigh culture as a cornerstone of Moroccan identity.
