The movement « Saharawians for Peace » stated that the withdrawal of Ghana’s recognition of the Polisario Front reflects the continuous decline of the fictitious group in Africa and marks an important turning point in African diplomacy.

The movement added in a statement that this decision aligns with similar setbacks in Latin America, reflecting a difficult situation for the group in its primary continental base.

In this context, the movement considered that the Polisario Front is experiencing an unprecedented crisis, as the camps face a massive influx of refugees, which could lead to a collective abandonment of its ranks.

It emphasized that the current stage calls for the Sahrawis to seek new leadership alternatives capable of ensuring a better future, away from the confusion.

Finally, the movement confirmed that the time has come for « Saharawians for Peace » to lead the negotiations, as it enjoys strong support from the Sahrawi community and the Council of Tribal Chiefs, making it qualified to participate actively in a political process aiming for a fair and lasting solution to the Sahara conflict.

It is worth noting that the Republic of Ghana recognized the Polisario Front in 1979. Thanks to the momentum given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, 46 countries, including 13 African nations, have severed or suspended their relations with the fictitious republic since 2000.
