Weather Alert: Cold Wave and Snowfall in Several Moroccan Regions

Cold wave expected until Saturday
The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced a cold wave accompanied by snowfall in areas above 1400 meters altitude, starting Wednesday through next Saturday.

Significant drop in temperatures
In an « orange » level alert, it was noted that minimum temperatures will range between -8 °C and -2 °C, while maximum temperatures will vary from 0 °C to 6 °C. The affected areas include Ifrane, Boulemane, Béni Mellal, Khénifra, Al Haouz, Figuig, Chichaoua, Midelt, and Taroudant.

For other regions such as Jerada, Taourirt, the mountainous areas of Guercif, Taza, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Zagora, Errachidia, Tiznit, and Tata, minimum temperatures will range between -4 °C and 1 °C, with maximums between 3 °C and 9 °C.

Additional affected regions
The cold wave will also impact provinces like Oujda-Angad, Driouch, El Hajeb, Khémisset, Khouribga, Fquih Ben Salah, Casablanca, Mohammedia, El Jadida, Benslimane, Nouaceur, Settat, Sidi Bennour, Mediouna, Berrechid, Kalaat Sraghna, Rhamna, Safi, Marrakech, and Youssoufia. In these regions, minimum temperatures will range from -1 °C to 4 °C.

Snowfall forecast
Significant snowfall (15 to 30 cm) is expected in areas exceeding 1400 meters altitude in provinces such as Al Hoceima, Guercif, Taourirt, Figuig, Boulemane, Jerada, Sefrou, Ifrane, Taza, and Midelt. The snow will begin Friday at midnight and last until Saturday at 9 a.m.
