Arrest of a Radicalized Teacher in Taourirt: Operation Details
Police officers in Taourirt, acting on intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested a man on Wednesday who espouses the extremist ideology of the terrorist organization “ISIS.” The suspect, a teacher in the “Sidi Chafi” village in the Taourirt region, was detained as part of ongoing efforts to neutralize terrorist threats and protect the country’s security and stability.
According to a statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), searches conducted at the suspect’s home uncovered suspicious chemical substances likely intended for manufacturing improvised explosive devices. These substances include bottles of hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and zinc sulfate, which have been sent for scientific analysis. Additionally, various bladed weapons and electronic devices were seized.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect had gathered extensive information about materials used in explosive manufacturing and had practiced assembling them for a terrorist project aimed at endangering public safety and order.
The detainee has been placed in custody under the supervision of the public prosecutor in charge of terrorism cases to uncover all planned objectives and identify potential accomplices.
