Arrest of Two Individuals Involved in Migration Fraud in Ouarzazate
The police forces of the regional security in Ouarzazate, in coordination with the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested two individuals last Tuesday suspected of being involved in a scam targeting people aspiring to emigrate.
According to a police source, the suspects allegedly defrauded six individuals by promising them migration to Europe using fake employment contracts. They reportedly took advance payments from the victims before being apprehended through investigations conducted in collaboration with the Royal Gendarmerie in the rural area of « Aït Addi Boulemane, » near Kelaat M’Gouna.
Search operations carried out in this case resulted in the seizure of a passport, copies of two identification cards belonging to third parties, a copy of an academic diploma, and money transfer receipts suspected of being proceeds from this criminal activity.
The suspects were placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to uncover all circumstances, details, and motives behind this case.
