Morocco Strengthens African Cybersecurity Cooperation
The Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, Abdelatif Loudyi, reaffirmed on Monday in Rabat Morocco’s commitment to enhancing African cooperation in addressing cyber challenges and threats across the continent.
Speaking at the opening of the African Cybersecurity Forum, organized by the General Directorate of Information Systems Security under royal directives, Loudyi emphasized Morocco’s leadership role in strengthening collaborative relations with African nations through concrete and innovative programs.
He noted that, in line with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Africa’s development hinges on the values of solidarity and cooperation, with a special focus on South-South partnerships.
In this context, the King has launched several major initiatives, including the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, the Atlantic Initiative for Sahel countries, and the new Dakhla Atlantic Port. Loudyi highlighted Morocco’s continued efforts in cybersecurity, working alongside partner countries to enhance their capabilities in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
The minister commended the efforts of several Arab and African nations in developing robust national cybersecurity frameworks, calling for greater cooperation and coordination to counter the growing cyber threats targeting Africa’s digital infrastructure.
He emphasized that African collaboration in cybersecurity will help establish a safer cyberspace, secure digital economies, and support governments in their digital transformation journey.
This forum, held under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Trusted Cloud: A Pillar for Strengthening Cybersecurity,” brings together Moroccan and international experts, including senior government officials, business leaders, cybersecurity professionals, researchers, and academics to discuss key strategic issues related to digital transformation and securing Africa’s cyberspace.
