A report from the General Directorate for Foreigners in France (DGEF) has revealed that 1,658 Moroccan citizens were deported from France in 2024, marking a 50.2% increase compared to 2023.
According to the report, most deportations were forced, accounting for 70.9% of the total, while only 7.1% benefited from voluntary return programs.
The same report highlights that the expulsion of foreigners in an irregular situation increased by 26.7% compared to 2023, bringing the total number of deportees to 21,601.
Algeria topped the list of countries with the highest number of deportations, followed by Georgia and Morocco. The deportation of Turkish and Brazilian citizens also saw significant increases, rising by 131.3% and 82.5%, respectively, while Afghan deportations decreased by 22.5%.
The rise in the deportation of irregular Moroccan migrants is largely attributed to strengthened cooperation between France and Morocco in migration management.
