Bayern and Benfica Triumph Away to Edge Closer to the Last 16

Bayern Munich and Benfica Lisbon secured vital away victories on Wednesday, bringing them closer to the Champions League Round of 16. Bayern defeated Celtic 2-1 in Glasgow, while Benfica edged past Monaco 1-0 in the Principality.
Elsewhere, Feyenoord clinched a 1-0 win over AC Milan, and Club Brugge snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory against Atalanta.
Despite a modest away record in the group stage, Bayern Munich managed a crucial win at Celtic Park, courtesy of goals from Frenchman Michael Olise (45’) and English striker Harry Kane (49’). Japanese forward Daizen Maeda pulled one back for the hosts in the 79th minute.
The game started with high intensity, as Celtic had a goal disallowed just 27 seconds in due to interference with goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Bayern then faced a resilient Kasper Schmeichel in goal before Olise finally broke the deadlock before halftime.
Kane doubled the lead early in the second half, but Celtic fought back, with Maeda giving them hope. Nevertheless, the German champions maintained their advantage ahead of the return leg in Munich next Tuesday.
