Increase in Fish Landings at Al Hoceïma Port in January

According to a periodic report from the National Fisheries Office, coastal and artisanal fishing landings at Al Hoceïma port reached 585 tons last January, marking a significant increase of 18% compared to the same period in 2024.
The commercial value of these landings also rose by 23%, reaching over 36.23 million dirhams, compared to approximately 29.56 million in January of the previous year.
By type of catch, pelagic fish recorded a 34% decrease, with 30 tons landed at an estimated value of 1.54 million dirhams (-41%), compared to 46 tons and 2.61 million dirhams in January 2024.
On the other hand, white fish saw a 5% increase, reaching 23 tons with a value of 913,000 dirhams, compared to 22 tons and 852,000 dirhams the previous year.
Mollusks recorded a 24% increase, reaching 528 tons with revenues of approximately 33.51 million dirhams (+29%). Crustaceans also grew by 50%, reaching 4 tons with a market value of 269,000 dirhams (+39%).
At the national level, the National Fisheries Office reported that the value of marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products in January increased by 22%, reaching approximately 1.41 billion dirhams, while their total weight decreased by 13% to 30,429 tons.
