Police Officer Uses Service Weapon During an Intervention in Ben Slimane

A police officer from the regional security department of Ben Slimane was forced to use his service weapon on Sunday, February 23, during an operation to arrest a 65-year-old man. The suspect resisted, obstructing judicial procedures and seriously threatening police officers with a bladed weapon.
According to the preliminary investigation, officers from the judicial police brigade intervened to arrest an individual involved in drug trafficking at his home in the Al Farah neighborhood of Ben Slimane. However, the suspect’s father violently resisted and threatened the officers with a bladed weapon in an attempt to obstruct the arrest.
In response to this threat, a police officer fired a warning shot before shooting the suspect in the lower limbs, neutralizing the danger.
The suspect was placed under medical supervision at the hospital for necessary treatment and will be interrogated under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor. Meanwhile, investigations continue to determine the full circumstances of the case, while efforts are underway to locate and arrest his son, who managed to flee.
