Prison Sentences for Cocaine Trafficking in Al Hoceïma

The criminal chamber of the Al Hoceïma Court of First Instance recently handed down prison sentences against individuals accused of cocaine trafficking, along with fines and asset confiscations in favor of the state.
The first defendant was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5,000 dirhams after being acquitted of hard drug trafficking but convicted of other charges. The second defendant received a six-year prison sentence and a 20,000-dirham fine.
The court also ordered the confiscation of 950 and 2,600 dirhams, along with a Nokia phone, two knives, binoculars, and a plastic mask, all to be transferred to state property. Additionally, the seized drugs were destroyed in accordance with the law.
Regarding customs administration claims, the defendants were jointly ordered to pay 948,150 dirhams to the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration. Furthermore, the second defendant was required to pay an additional 1,075,220 dirhams. A seized motorcycle and foreign currency were also confiscated in favor of the same administration.
The first defendant faced charges of possession, consumption, trafficking, and transportation of hard drugs, illegal possession of narcotics, and rebellion. Meanwhile, the second defendant was prosecuted for possession and trafficking of hard drugs, illegal possession of narcotics, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
