Member of Parliament Thouria Afif, representing the Justice and Development Party, has submitted a written question to Minister of Interior Abdelouafi Laftit regarding violent incidents involving individuals with mental disorders in the Fquih Ben Salah province.

In her inquiry, she highlights the growing concerns among residents of certain localities due to attacks perpetrated by homeless individuals suffering from psychological or mental disorders. She specifically refers to a tragic case in Oulad Ayad, where a man suspected of having a mental illness killed a citizen and seriously injured a woman. Another incident in Souk Sebt resulted in a child sustaining a severe eye injury after being struck by a stone thrown by a mentally unstable individual.

The MP warns that the increasing presence of mentally ill individuals in the streets without medical or social care is raising fears among residents and jeopardizing their safety, especially that of children.

Thouria Afif urges the Minister of Interior to clarify what measures will be taken to both protect the dignity of these individuals and ensure the safety of citizens, preventing further unexpected incidents.
