Fast-Paced Renovations at Mohammed V Stadium Ahead of the Derby

Renovations at the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca have been progressing rapidly throughout Ramadan, continuing late into the night in preparation for the highly anticipated derby between Wydad and Raja, scheduled for April 12.
This week, nighttime work continued with the dismantling of the stadium’s outer metal fence facing the Olympic swimming pool and the indoor hall. Excavation around the complex has been completed, and late last night, large trucks removed stones and metal debris from the stadium entrances.
Only a few finishing touches remain, particularly at the main entrance near the VIP and press areas, where a new conference room has been built. This brings the preparations closer to completion ahead of the major football event.
As part of on-site monitoring, Abdellah El Wardi, Casablanca’s police chief, conducted an inspection visit after the Tarawih prayer, accompanied by security officials and municipal representatives, to assess the progress and ensure the stadium is ready to host fans under optimal conditions.
