Maryam Touzani’s ‘Le Bleu du Caftan’ Shortlisted for 2023 Oscars
It is the only Arab and African film shortlisted this year in the « International Feature Film » category of the prestigious Oscar competition, which will be held on March 12, 2023 in Hollywood.
Last September, the film was chosen by a committee of Moroccan film professionals to represent the Kingdom at the Oscars.
Maryam Touzani declared herself « immensely happy with this news and honored to be able to represent Morocco » at this important film event.
« Le Bleu du Caftan » tells the story of Halim and Mina, a couple running a caftan store in the medina of Salé, who are joined by Youssef, a young apprentice who shares with his boss, Halim, the same sincere passion for sewing. The film is about transmission, tradition and love.
