Morocco, Senegal Strengthen Cooperation in Water, Sanitation Fields

 Morocco and Senegal signed, on Wednesday in Rabat, a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of water and sanitation.

Signed by the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, and the Senegalese Minister of Water and Sanitation, Serigne Mbaye Thiam, this memorandum also aims to promote the exchange of expertise and experience in the fields of water and sanitation between the two parties.

On this occasion, Baraka stressed the importance of consolidating bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal in the fields of water and sanitation, in addition to promoting the exchange of experiences and scientific research and technology transfer in these areas.

Under this agreement, added the Minister, the two parties are committed to joint cooperation in the areas of water saving, wastewater treatment and preservation of groundwater.

For his Senegalese counterpart, this agreement is an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of water and sanitation and to benefit from the great experience of the Kingdom in this field.

Thiam also said that his visit to Morocco comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations especially after the participation of Morocco in the 9th International Water Forum in Dakar, during which it was agreed to establish a roadmap to work together in the fields of water and sanitation.

During this meeting, both parties expressed their great satisfaction with the excellent relations between Morocco and Senegal.
