Football Federation President Considers Morocco’s Joint Bid to Host 2030 World Cup Illustration of Africa, Europe’s Efforts

The President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, said that the announcement by King Mohammed VI on Tuesday in Kigali of Morocco’s joint bid with Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup illustrates the combined efforts and potential of the African and European continents.

In a statement to the press after the award ceremony of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Excellence Award for the year 2022 to King Mohammed VI and Rwandan President Paul Kagame,  Lekjaa stressed that this award is a great opportunity for the African continent to show its support for the World Cup.

Lekjaa emphasized that this unprecedented joint bid, as stated by His Majesty the King, is able to illustrate the great importance of the cohesion of African, European, Mediterranean and Arab youth around a theme that makes football a locomotive of development and a means of combining efforts and integrating experiences.

On the other hand, Lekjaa said that the awarding of the CAF Excellence Award 2022 to His Majesty the King, is a recognition by African leaders and youth of the continent to the extraordinary efforts undertaken by His Majesty the King in favor of African football and youth, adding that the Sovereign, since his accession to the throne, has placed youth at the heart of any development process.

On Tuesday in Kigali, CAF presented its award for excellence for the year 2022 to King Mohammed VI and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

The CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award was presented by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Patrice Motsepe to Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Pre-school Education and Sports.

The ceremony was attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, members of the CAF Executive Committee, presidents of CAF member associations and football legends.
