During an appearance on 2M’s news, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, revealed the promising results of the current agricultural campaign. He also revealed the details of the ambitious support program, in execution of the High Royal Guidelines, aimed at helping farmers to overcome the challenges they face.

During an interview broadcast recently on 2M, the Minister of Agriculture shared the encouraging results of the current agricultural campaign, while outlining the concrete measures that the government plans to take to support farmers.

Faced with the rise in the prices of agricultural raw materials and the crucial importance of agriculture for the national economy, Mr. Sadiki underlined that in execution of the High Royal Guidelines, the government will begin the implementation of a extensive support program. With a budget estimated at 10 billion dirhams (MMDH), the latter will include several key initiatives aimed at reducing economic pressures on farmers and boosting their productivity.

The minister also mentioned the exceptional results of the current agricultural campaign, despite the successive years of drought. Cereal production should reach nearly 55 million quintals, a remarkable increase of 62% compared to the previous campaign.

Also, the Minister detailed the various measures that will be implemented as part of this program. The support will notably include the import of feed for livestock and poultry, in order to maintain their availability and control their costs. In addition, the government will support the import of agricultural raw materials to reduce the cost of producing vegetables and fruits.

At the same time, the bank Crédit Agricole du Maroc will benefit from substantial reinforcement. This initiative aims to consolidate the institution’s interventions in favor of farmers, by facilitating access to financing for agricultural projects and by strengthening technical support.
