« His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, has appointed Lekjaa Fouzi, minister delegate in charge of the Budget and president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), as chairman of the Committee in charge of Morocco’s bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, as part of a joint Moroccan-Spanish-Portuguese candidacy.
His Majesty the King, may God glorify Him, had announced on March 14, 2023, during the presentation in Kigali of the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) President’s Outstanding Achievement Prize for the year 2022, awarded to the Sovereign, Morocco’s decision to present, along with Spain and Portugal, a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup.
On this occasion, His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, had emphasized: « This joint bid, which is unprecedented in football history, will bring together Africa and Europe, the northern and southern Mediterranean, and the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds. It will also bring out the best in all of us – in effect, a combination of genius, creativity, experience, and means ». »
