Morocco Reports 254 New Covid Cases Last Week

Some 254 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Morocco during the last week, the Health and Social Protection ministry said on Friday.

The number of people vaccinated for the first time reached 24,924,119, those who received two doses 23,426,000, while 6,886,632 people received three injections of the vaccine and 61,082 received the booster dose, the ministry pointed out in its weekly note on the epidemiological situation (September 09-15).

The new weekly tally brings the overall number of contaminations since the first case on March 2, 2020 to 1,276,430, with a weekly positivity rate of 6.5%.

The new cases were recorded in the regions of Grand Casablanca-Settat (87), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (77), Fez-Meknes (28), Souss-Massa (23), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (16), Eastern region (9), Marrakech-Safi (7), Guelmim-Oued Noun (3), Draa-Tafilalet (2), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (1) and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (1).

The overall number of deaths remains at 16,297 (overall case fatality 1.3%), with zero case recorded last week.

Active cases numbered 280, with no severe or critical case reported.
