Morocco’s ambassador to Argentina, Fares Yassir, highlighted the leading role played by culture in bringing the two peoples together as well as the different initiatives carried out to strengthen the links between the two countries and between the Kingdom and Latin America in general.

Speaking to CNN Rosario Radio as part of its « Con Estilo » (With Style) program, the diplomat highlighted the intense cultural schedule developed by the Moroccan Embassy through the recent publication of the first « Anthology of Argentinean poets friends of Morocco », with the participation of forty poets.

A second anthology will be published soon, including prose texts written by several Argentine writers who show their talent to tell stories related to Morocco, its history and identity, he added.

The diplomat also highlighted the Moroccan-Argentine project to create the House of Latin America and the Caribbean at the Faculty of Arts of the University Mohammed V in Rabat, with the participation of Argentine academics, including the University of San Martin (UNSAM).

Human rights are another area where Morocco and Argentina, and more generally Mercosur (Southern Common Market), are coming together, following the recent visit to Rabat of Mr. Remo Gerardo Carlotto, Executive Secretary of the Institute of Public Policy of Human Rights of Mercosur, he recalled.

On the latest developments in the Sahara issue, the diplomat pointed out that Morocco’s sovereignty over this region does not suffer any ambiguity, since time immemorial.

In that regard, he recalled Spain’s recent stance in favor of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara, which adds up to those of the United States, Germany and France, besides the opening of 25 consulates of friendly countries in Laayoune and Dakhla.

According to Yassir, the root of the problem is that a neighboring country, namely Algeria, has created « a militia and a puppet entity that it shelters on its own territory » to undermine Morocco’s sovereignty.

The diplomat also underlined the political stability enjoyed by Morocco, thanks to a parliamentary and democratic monarchy, which guarantees optimum investment conditions, just 14 km away from Europe.

He outlined the many advantages that Morocco offers to investors, such as the first solar power plant in the world, the first high-speed train in Africa, the port of Tangier Med, a flourishing automotive and aerospace industry, closeness to Europe and the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, among others.
