Two Royal Navy combat units intercepted, in the early hours of Monday morning, two pirogues carrying a total of 59 sub-Saharan irregular migrants, approximately 172 km northwest and 266 km southwest of Dakhla respectively, according to a statement by the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
The rescued people, who were on their way to the Canary Islands, received the necessary care before being handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, the same source added.
