Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, inaugurated the 2024 National Summer Program at the Assilah Summer Center.

This year’s edition, themed « Together for a Responsible and Brilliant Youth, » will benefit over 80,000 participants across 37 centers throughout the Kingdom. The program encompasses various activities such as summer camps for teenagers, training sessions, educational vacations, youth universities, local activities, basic training, themed residencies, and capacity-building meetings. These activities will be supervised by monitoring committees and overseen by provincial and regional youth directors.

The program focuses on several key areas: health, environment, rights and citizenship, physical activities, digital activities, cultural heritage, tourism, leadership and innovation, volunteerism, and artistic activities.

The summer camps will provide comprehensive services including health, safety, nutrition, insurance, entertainment, educational supervision, and transportation. Special attention is given to children and adolescents, particularly those from rural areas, girls, children with special needs, those from social institutions, and children of migrants.

Kenza Abourmane, the Director of Youth at the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, stated that the program will be conducted in five phases from July 1 to August 31. She expressed her delight that the summer centers across the provinces and regions of the Kingdom will host Moroccan children from all areas. Abourmane added, « The summer camps will offer cultural, educational, and recreational activities, allowing children to enjoy their time before returning to their families. » She also noted that this year, approximately 85,000 children will be welcomed into the camps, which will operate based on an integrated educational program that emphasizes citizenship and respect for rights, alongside entertainment, and recognizes the efforts children have made throughout the school year.

Abdelouahed Azibou Mokrai, the Regional Youth Director for Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, highlighted that « the northern region is one of the most sought-after by children for summer camps in Morocco. » He noted that about 22,000 children and young people will be hosted by the camps in this region this year. Mokrai also emphasized the program’s inclusiveness, particularly for rural children and those with special needs, pointing out that the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region boasts high-quality infrastructure capable of hosting up to 30,000 children each summer in excellent conditions.
