Tarwa Art: Colorful Celebration of Children’s Culture in Taroudant

Yesterday evening, at the Cultural Center of Taroudant, the curtain fell on the second edition of the International Festival of Folk Arts for Children « Tarwa Art ».

The closing ceremony of the festival, organized by the Youth Association for Culture and Development over a period of ten days, featured numerous artistic performances and folk dances by a variety of participating artistic groups from around the world.

Approximately fifty children from ten different countries (Poland, Spain, Brazil, Hong Kong, Estonia, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali, Senegal, in addition to Morocco) participated in this edition, aiming to foster acquaintance, exchange, and to promote values of citizenship, tolerance, as well as to enhance national pride and cultural heritage.

On this occasion, the artistic director of the festival, Saâd Oublaid, stated to the Moroccan News Agency that this festival aims to promote a culture of peace and coexistence among children worldwide, and to open up to countries that share with Morocco an authentic cultural heritage.

She explained that the second edition of the festival has been highly successful, providing Taroudant’s audience with unique artistic performances reflecting the cultural and heritage diversity that distinguishes the participating countries, and enhancing cultural and artistic relations between them and Morocco.

The International Festival of Folk Arts for Children, organized in partnership with the National Initiative for Human Development, the Municipal Council of Taroudant, the Regional Council of Souss Massa, and the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication in Taroudant – Culture sector, aims to make the child a central figure in ensuring the continuity of identity-expressive arts, strengthening pride in them, and honing emerging talents to be excellent ambassadors for the country.
